Out of all the different agencies that hire medical billing and coding employees, industry, health care is perhaps the biggest employer. Other places where encoding vendors are working in federal agencies, insurance companies and various international organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO). Approximately one third of billing and coding employees to work from their own homes. This is because many hospitals prefer to outsource their work, instead of hiring their own staff. Another name for medical billing professionals is Health Information Technicians or HIT and the field is poised for big growth.

In order to become a medical billing clerk, a candidate must have at least an associate’s degree. However, if the candidate intends to advance to a managerial position, he or she have to specialize their education and obtain the necessary qualifications. There are many community colleges that offer courses in medical billing and coding diploma. Once a person becomes a health technician recorded information, salaries can be up to $ 60,000 per year. Most of these jobs are in hospitals. The rest will be in nursing care facilities, outpatient clinics and institutions of health care.
